Israel Ceasefire in Gaza: How Neither Israel nor Hamas Won Anything – Brian Berletic 1/17/25

The US achieved all its goals, using Hamas to trigger a regional war finally eliminating Syria and wiping out Hezbollah’s senior leadership.

Iran is left weaker and more isolated than it has been in decades.

Israel is withdrawing its forces as it always does to reorganize and prepare for the next episode of violence which will be aimed at what’s left of Hezbollah, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran itself.

Israel pretends it is angry at being pressured into a ceasefire, Hamas supporters imagine they’ve achieved some sort of victory.

All of this will repeat itself again inevitably.

Benjamin Netanyahu announced Israel’s intention to violate its disengagement agreement with Syria, as Israeli forces invaded and occupied several positions inside Syrian sovereign territory, including the summit of Mount Al-Sheikh.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Israel’s dissolution of its commitment to the 1974 forces disengagement agreement with Syria, which ended the 1973 war between the two countries. Netanyahu made his announcement in a televised statement from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights on Sunday.

Washington Celebrates Al-Qaeda’s Victory in Syria – Kyle Anzalone 12/9/24

Washington finally completed its dirty war in Syria. What started as a CIA covert operation to smuggle weapons and jihadists from Libya to Syria has resulted in Syria leader Bashar al-Assad being deposed and replaced by Abu Mohammad al-Julani.

Julani found his way to Damascus by rising through the ranks of al-Qaeda in Iraq. Inspired by the 9/11 attack, he joined AQI to fight against the US during the Iraq war. Julani was a close associate of both AQI leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and founded the al-Qaeda affiliate group Syria in coordination with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Post-Assad Syria is on the brink of all-out collapse that could turn it into the world’s largest hotbed of terrorism if this process isn’t soon averted.

The epic collapse of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) over the past ten days and Assad’s cowardly flight from Damascus early Sunday morning herald the dawn of a new Syria. The most immediate risk is that the entire country collapses just like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya before it. Islamist Takeover of Syria Proves Tulsi Gabbard Was Right – James Carden 12/9/24

The tragic events in Syria over the weekend should, but will likely not, prompt reflection and rethinking on the part of many within the Washington establishment who were at the forefront of calling for the overthrow of the secular leader of multi-confessional Syria, Bashar al-Assad, beginning in 2011 when his government was the object of a coup attempt by Islamist jihadists. What was unfolding there thirteen years ago was no secret – at the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s adviser Jake Sullivan noted in an email that “AQ is on our side in Syria” – AQ being Al Qaeda. Yet this did not dissuade an alliance of crusading “progressive” foreign policy thinkers and neoconservatives from wholehearted embracing Hillary Clinton’s war cry that “Assad must go.” The question they never had a satisfactory answer for was “and then what?”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan just had a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Nov. 24 in which the former reportedly talked up plans to expand cooperation as the two countries have done in recent years. Part of that includes years of Moscow holding the hands of Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an effort to mend ties due to Türkiye’s key role in the dirty war effort to topple the Assad government.

The interim between a US presidential election and the swearing in of a new Administration has for most of our history been a non-eventful period where the outgoing Administration winds down operations and the incoming Administration ramps up new personnel before the inauguration.

The 20th Amendment to our Constitution was enacted in 1933 to reduce the “lame duck” period between election and inauguration to January 20th instead of March 4th. Increasing ease in travel and communications made such a long interim unnecessary. However long the transition period, it has been understood that with the new election came a new mandate from the American people and the “lame duck” outgoing administration was meant to quietly quack out its last few days in office without incident.

The disaster in Aleppo was avoidable and is just as bad as it looks.

The Turkish-backed terrorists’/“rebels’” advance on Aleppo, which was analyzed here, came as a shock to most observers. There was almost half a decade of peace between the March 2020 ceasefire and now, yet practically nothing was done to prepare for this possibility. Turkey-Backed Jihadists Eye Hama Next After Capturing Central Aleppo, International Airport – ZeroHedge 11/30/24

Update(1425ET): After capturing the central and northwestern parts of Aleppo, Syria’s largest northern city, armed jihadist insurgents led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are reportedly seeking to take the west-central city of Hama next.

Regional media has cited HTS sources to say they’ve “begun marching towards Hama, successfully capturing six towns and villages in the countryside, including Morek, which lies along an important highway connecting central Syria to the north.” The Syrian government has denied that many of these towns or villages were captured, amid conflicting social media reports.

Key Lebanon–Syria Border Crossing Destroyed by Israeli Attack – The Cradle 10/4/24

The Masnaa border crossing between Lebanon and Syria was severely damaged by an Israeli airstrike early on 4 October, forcing the road to close and leaving those fleeing to cross on foot.

Videos circulating on social media show the aftermath of the strike and the destruction it caused. Displaced Lebanese and Syrians can be seen trekking across the border.

Masnaa is the primary border crossing between Lebanon and Syria….

Israel on Wednesday has once again targeted Damascus – but which marks the first time Israel’s military has struck Syria since the Tuesday night major ballistic missile attack by Iran.

The fresh airstrike happened in broad daylight in a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of the capital, killing at least three civilians, according to state-run SANA. Another three were reported wounded.

Just before midnight on Sunday, Israel began launching waves of unprovoked airstrikes against Syrian targets in the center of the country. The attack was the largest committed by Israel against Syria since 2018, killing at least 18 and injuring around 40 people. Despite the hundreds of attacks perpetrated against Syrian civilian and military infrastructure, Damascus has chosen not to respond in years and instead takes its appeals to the United Nations.

Turkey Announces Arrest Of Mossad Agent In Istanbul – The Cradle 9/3/24

Turkish security officials announced on Tuesday the arrest of Liridon Rexhepi, a Kosovan national identified by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) as the head of Mossad’s financial network in Turkey.

Citing security sources, Turkish media revealed Rexhepi “was transferring money to Mossad’s field agents in Turkiye who filmed Mossad targets with drones, led psychological operations against Palestinian politicians, and gathered intelligence about the Syrian field.”
