Israeli Airstrikes in Syria Kill Two Iranian IRGC Members – Antiwar 4/2/23

Two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday.

The IRGC announced Friday that a military officer and advisor named Milad Heydari was killed in the Israeli attacks. On Sunday, they announced that another IRGC officer, Meqdad Mehghani Jafarabadi, succumbed to his wounds.

“Jafarabadi, a member of the Revolutionary Guards, was wounded in a criminal attack of the Zionist regime on Friday and was martyred due to the severity of his injuries,” the IRGC said in a statement, according to Middle East Eye….

The United States said on Wednesday it would be concerned if there is a prolonged disruption to humanitarian aid deliveries in Syria after the Aleppo airport was knocked out of service by an air strike that Syrian state media blamed on Israel.

The airport was being used to deliver aid to victims of last month’s earthquake that killed thousands. Syria’s Ministry of Transport had diverted all flights with earthquake aid to Damascus or Latakia, the United Nations said on Wednesday….

The House this week voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution to maintain sanctions on Syria following a devastating earthquake that has killed at least 5,900 people in the country, The Cradle reported on Wednesday.

The resolution was introduced by Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) and received 51 cosponsors. It passed in a vote of 414-2. Only Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) voted against the measure.

Ten Reported Killed in Airstrikes on Syria-Iraq Border – AntiWar 1/29/23

Airstrikes targeting a convoy of trucks launched by unidentified aircraft were reported on the Syria-Iraq border on Sunday.

According to The Times of Israel, Syria’s Sham FM radio station and other local media reports said six refrigerator trucks were hit. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported six refrigerator trucks were targeted and said they were hit in eastern Syria after crossing the border.

The prospects for peace, justice, and the advancement of liberty in 2023 may at first seem further away than ever. Washington’s determination to overthrow the Russian government via a proxy war in Ukraine has brought the threat of nuclear war closer than ever in history. The mainstream media is even “normalizing” the idea that a nuclear attack on the US is really no big deal. Yahoo News wrote yesterday that a “public health expert” is “concerned” that Americans are not sufficiently prepared for nuclear bombs hitting major US cities!

The Yahoo article even links to a FEMA-authored “nuclear detonation planning guide” to help us better get through a barrage of nuclear missiles. Are they insane? They act as if a nuclear attack on the United States is just another inconvenience to plan for, like an ice storm or a hurricane.

During 2011, NATO bombed a path to Tripoli to help its proxy forces on the ground oust Gaddafi. Tens of thousands lost their lives and much of Libya’s social fabric and infrastructure lay in ruins.
