American Pravda: YouTube Censorship and the Curious Case of Candace Owens – Ron Unz 8/26/24

Source: Unz.com

For 45 years I’ve read the New York Times in its print edition almost each and every morning, together with the Wall Street Journal. Until about a decade ago, I also read four of California’s leading newspapers in similar fashion, but as they declined into just pale shadows of what they once had been, I abandoned them, a decision made easier when the Los Angeles Times and the Sacramento Bee stopped local delivery in my area; and given the huge decline in the quality of the Gray Lady in recent years, one of these days it may suffer that same ignominious fate. Meanwhile, for the last quarter century, I’ve balanced these very mainstream morning sources of information with a wide variety of extremely alternative news and opinion websites on the Internet, whose offerings have always provided a very different view of those same events.

Phil Donahue (1935-2024): Greatest Champion of Free Speech for the Peoples’ Interest of the 20th Century – Ralph Nader 8/23/24

Source: Nader.org

It was 1967 when the national media was covering our auto safety initiatives. A call came on the hallway phone outside my $90-a-month boarding room. “Hello, I’m Phil Donahue. I want to invite you on my new syndicated television talk show in Dayton, Ohio. You’ve come a long way without my help, but can you please come here? You’ll make me into a Big Act. You can talk about and say anything you want for an hour.” He then described some of his controversial guests. I remember thinking, “This is a General Motors factory town and he wants me there!!!” Clearly, he stood out with his polite insistence from the numerous invitations I was receiving from media shows outside Washington.

A Billion Views: Donald Trump Tells Elon Musk Kamala Harris is a Radical ‘San Francisco Liberal’ – Matt Lamb 8/13/24

A much publicized recorded conversation between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump has generated 1 billion views, according to the former.

Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter), spoke with Trump for nearly two hours last night on the social media platform. The conversation was delayed by a “massive distributed denial of service attack,” Musk said. The hackers’ attack showed “there’s a lot of opposition to people just hearing what President Trump has to say.”

There are no Transgender Women Boxing in Paris – Patrick Stumberg 8/1/24

Source: BadLeftHook.com

Boxing became arguably the Olympics’ most talked-about event today, though not for reasons most would prefer. Controversy erupted when Italian boxer Angela Carini quit after a single punch to the face from Algeria’s Imane Khelif, who alongside Taiwan’s Lin Yu-Ting had been disqualified from the 2023 World Championships for failing a “gender test.”

Prominent figures in the sport like Claressa Shields and Jamel Herring went off about the injustice of a “man” beating up a woman, with Sampson Lewkowicz going so far as to claim Khelif “had surgery” to transition.

There’s just one problem: Khelif and Lin aren’t transgender.

Sexual Fetishes, Grooming, and the Olympics – Jill G. Malone, PhD 7/30/24

I used to work at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park for the research unit called CRES (The Center for Research on Endangered Species) in the 1980s. I was involved in behavioral research on mother-infant dyads, both as an intern and later as an employee. In particular, I conducted behavioral studies involving Lion-tailed Macaques, an endangered Old World monkey endemic to the Western Ghats of South India. The research aimed to determine why low-ranking females did not reproduce as well as the higher-ranking females.

The Olympic Drag Queen Show Wasn’t Just Mockery – Casey Chalk 7/29/24

Catholics are rightly incensed by the 26 July performance by a group of drag queens and dancers of an apparent “parody of the Last Supper” during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which Bishop Robert Barron of Minnesota labeled a “gross mockery of the Last Supper.” The interpretation of the performance as a mockery of the Church’s most important rite was ubiquitous in responses to the event: Elon Musk called it “extremely disrespectful to Christians.” Clint Russel, host of the Liberty Lockdown podcast, declared: “There are 2.4 billion Christians on earth and apparently the Olympics wanted to declare loudly to all of them, right out of the gate NOT WELCOME.”

Calls for deportation of a comedy band over a failed joke and efforts to get ordinary working-class people sacked for saying terrible things out loud…

These are the kinds of actions one might expect from a progressive woke cancel culture mob, but in the wake of the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump, it’s conservatives who have led the charge to cancel their political enemies over speech.
