Bombs Rain Down in Gaza as Israeli Death Toll Soars – The Cradle 10/7/23

Israel’s military launched airstrikes on Gaza on 7 October in response to Hamas’ massive military offensive within the occupied territories, called ‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.’

“Dozens of IDF fighter jets are currently striking a number of targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli military said.

During the Hamas offensive, which has been raging since the early hours of Saturday, the resistance group’s armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, successfully infiltrated southern Israel, attacking several southern towns and military posts, and capturing settlements. Hamas fighters have killed at least 300 Israelis, taken dozens more captive, including soldiers and a high-ranking general, and launched some 5,000 rockets into Israel.

The Israeli military has, in turn, killed 232 Palestinians and wounded 1,610 others in airstrikes on Gaza, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

“Hundreds of Palestinians fled their homes in eastern Gaza to move away from the border with Israel. Men, women, and children were seen carrying blankets and food as they fled, mostly in the northeastern part of the territory,” Al-Jazeera reported….
