On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club near Sochi, Russia. The session was attended by scholars and diplomats from forty-two countries. Putin spoke for half an hour and then answered questions for about three hours. Several interesting things were said.

In western discourse it is always said that Russia started an unprovoked war in Ukraine. There has been much discussion – though not in the mainstream media nor in statements issued by western governments – about whether the war was unprovoked. But there has been little discussion about whether Russia started it.

On Western Media and the Erasure of Palestine – Hashem Abushama 10/14/23

The Palestinian struggle brings to the forefront the colonial relations that underpin today’s world, and that the West, and its media, work tirelessly to hide.

With every Israeli massacre in the besieged Gaza Strip, the double standards of Western media and governments become palpable. This time, however, the targeting of Palestinians and their supporters, especially across Europe, seems to be more violent and coordinated than ever before. On October 10^th, the UK Home Secretary sent a letter to Chief Constables in England and Wales, encouraging the police to broaden the grounds on which they can arrest Palestine supporters. The letter encourages the police to consider chants such as ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ as an “expression of violent desire” and Palestinian flags as “intended to glorify acts of terrorism.” Yesterday, the German police attacked supporters of Palestine on Sonnenallee, arresting some of the protestors. In Vienna, the police banned a Palestine protest and issued fines to as many as three hundred protestors. In France, the police banned Palestine protests.

U.S. Networks are Committing Journalistic Malpractice by Only Posting Reporters in Israel – Mondoweiss 10/12/23

U.S. reporters are providing breathless around the clock coverage from Israel, but none are reporting from the destruction of Gaza. The result is that Palestinians are dehumanized and Americans are missing the story.

As Israel struck Gaza in a massive bombing campaign, CNN today featured what appeared to be drone footage of Gaza City reduced to rubble, but the reporter on air was in Israel, Jeremy Diamond in Ashdod.

MSNBC was little different. Josh Lederman was in Tel Aviv. Ali Velshi was in Ashkelon. So was Raf Sanchez.

PBS News Hour last night featured both anchor Amna Nawaz and reporter Leila Molana-Allen — reporting from Tel Aviv.

The White House on 11 October was forced to backtrack a statement US President Joe Biden made earlier in the day, in which he claimed to have seen “confirmed pictures” of Palestinian militants “beheading children” in Israel.

Later in the evening on Wednesday, a National Security official told NPR that Biden was “referring to media reports” when he made that remark. At the same time, CNN cited a White House official saying that “neither Biden nor the administration had seen these images.”…

French police have banned two rallies scheduled for 12 October in solidarity with Palestinians being slaughtered in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces.

The protest ban was implemented “taking into account the risk of disturbance to public order,” according to French media citing police officials.

The decision was taken two days after security forces violently repressed a pro-Palestine rally in France’s second city of Lyon, using tear gas and batons to break it up.

Contempt for Press Freedoms: U S Officials Bar Tucker Carlson from Interviewing Putin – Ted Galen Carpenter 10/3/23

Tucker Carlson reports that the U.S. government prevented him from interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin. Carlson told the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche that he had sought to arrange an interview with Putin, but U.S. officials blocked him. “I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, but the U.S. government prevented me from doing so. Think about [the implications],” Carlson told the newspaper on September 24. Worse, according to Carlson, no one in the U.S. news media supported his right as a journalist to report on the Russian leader’s views regarding the Ukraine conflict.

Such obstructionism reflects a growing contempt on the part of officials in the United States and other supposedly liberal democratic countries for freedom of the press. It is merely the latest episode in a lengthening parade of restrictions, ranging from petty to truly alarming. The highest priority targets are critics who dare condemn or even dispute the accounts that Western leaders put forth regarding key foreign policy objectives….

Yet another “deeply embarrassing” scandal for the Canadian government, this time involving a 98-year old Ukrainian Nazi who received a standing ovation in the Canadian Parliament during Ukrainian President Zelensky’s address this past Friday, on September 22, 2023. Hmmm, coincidence?

According to the PR damage control, this is all the fault of House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota who had extended an invitation to Yaroslav Hunka to witness Ukrainian President Zelensky’s address to the Canadian Parliament. Thus, we are told that the Trudeau government and Zelensky are simply innocent bystanders of this unfortunate blunder by one man’s oversight.

Numerous companies, including Burger King, Asos, the Barbican, and meal delivery service HelloFresh have withdrawn their ads from the increasingly popular platform.

A group called The News Movement, who say they “help people fight misinformation,” contacted companies, pointing out that their adverts were being shown on Russell Brand’s channel.

On September 13, 2023 media reports across the world exclaimed aloud that ancient aliens were discovered in Peru and presented to the Mexican Congress by a team of valiant researchers led by a journalist named Jose Jaime Maussan. The language used in the headlines across mainstream press agencies expressed absolute certainty leaving media consumers to believe that the claims of tiny three-fingered alien bodies with DNA far removed from the human species were true.

By this time, the minds of citizens were well-prepared to accept these claims uncritically as we had already been told by the Pentagon in 2020 that ‘off-world vehicles made of material not from this earth’ had been in the hands of government agencies for decades. We had been told by Pentagon insiders that alien bodies had been dissected by government scientists since the 1940s, and we had been told by major press agencies that UFOs had clashed with intrepid American fighter jets in February 2023.

If you take the coordinated messaging across all media platforms seriously, and believe what these experts are saying, then it would appear that a grand new hypothesis for the origins of humanity is on the tip of our fingertips making Hollywood films like Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey more factual than anyone anticipated.

But was any of this ever true? How can we know?
