Well, maybe you had the seeming transhumanist Big Tech Czar going after Emperor Fauci on your 2022 bingo card, but I sure didn’t. Yet, as Pope Francis loves to say, we do have a “God of surprises,” and I think Elon Musk looking like a veritable white knight against one of the greatest criminals in American history is a surprise, to say the least.
If you weren’t aware, Musk went after Fauci—and gender pronouns, I might add—with a tweet from a few days back, stating: “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”
Now, if there is ever a Twitter Hall of Fame, I think that (along with Austin Ruse’s infamous tweet about George Floyd) this tweet by Musk might be a contender for greatest of all time—GOAT, as the millennials say.
A tweet from Musk isn’t just a “tweet” any more than an interview by Pope Francis on a plane is merely an interview. Let’s be honest, international doctrinal understanding radically changes every time il Papa says something regrettable on Alitalia; and Musk’s tweets have historically been so influential that the federal government has gone after him for his 280-character influence on the economy of the most powerful nation on earth.
Now, lest you think that Musk’s tweet about Fauci was something of a Jordan Peterson-esque outburst against the fat-acceptance movement, think again. He doubled down; he doubled down hard.
He tweeted in response to criticism from gender-benders and Fauci disciples:
Forcing your pronouns upon others when they didn’t ask, and implicitly ostracizing those who don’t, is neither good nor kind to anyone. As for Fauci, he lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people. Not awesome imo [in my opinion].
Two questions should be asked.
First, when did Musk become such a right-wing extremist? And second, can we trust him?
Personally, I believe Musk has always been a Classical Liberal in the philosophical sense but has moved a bit right lately. Some might say that he has always been a general centrist, and because things have gone so wacky, he seems like he has moved right. But it is in the nature of Classical Liberals to become something like conservativish rightists, that is if they don’t follow their philosophical liberalism in the other direction and become idiots.
You can tell by the way that Musk talks about free speech, democracy, taxes, and so on that he probably allies a lot with the overall political tradition of politics in the Anglo-sphere for the past couple hundred years.
It is worth noting that Musk is South-African by birth and Canadian through his mother, so it is not a stretch to think that he was raised in a very “Commonwealth” setting, which I can attest to is historically very neutral. And today, being neutral makes you a far-right extremist.
There is a quote attributed to Churchill, although it is not certain he said it, that I think applies to Musk: “Any man under 30 who is not a liberal has no heart, and any man over thirty who is not a conservative has no brains.”
Furthermore, he is, in many ways, a materialist who deals with hard data, so it is not surprising that he isn’t following the Left in their insanity. There are plenty of thinkers like him who would not be considered something like a Christian conservative but who are nevertheless the enemy of the Left due to their belief in a hard and fast reality.
Peter Boghossian comes to mind, a man who is very much an atheist materialist but who performed perhaps the greatest troll on the Left in academia when he had a hoax paper peer reviewed about the “conceptual penis.” In that paper, he and his colleagues essentially argued that the male organ isn’t actually real but is rather some sort of construct.
Now, the second question: Should we trust Musk? Does he actually believe that Fauci should be prosecuted, and, by extension, is he willing to continue going after the big-government sacred cows?…
