A 16-year-old Brazilian skateboarder flouted Olympic rules in order to witness to her faith in Jesus Christ.
During competition this week, Rayssa Leal looked into the camera and used sign language to say “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life,” which is taken from John 14:6.
Leal was skirting around Article 50 of the Olympic Charter, which says “no kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.”
Fellow Brazilian competitor João Chianca, a 23-year-old surfer, faced a similar dilemma.
“Just received the news that (the) painting is not authorized at the Olympic Games because Christ is a religious figure, and the Games have strict rules and focus on total neutrality,” he allegedly said in a since-deleted Instagram post….
